Messed up Family Tree

Many many years ago
when I was twenty three,
I got married to a widow
who was pretty as could be.

This widow had a grown-up daughter
who had hair of red.
My father fell in love with her,
and soon the two were wed.

This made my dad my son-in-law
And changed my very life.
My daughter was my mother,
For she was my father's wife.

To complicate the matters worse,
Although it brought me joy,
I soon became the father
Of a bouncing baby boy.

My little baby then became
A brother-in-law to dad.
And so became my uncle,
Though it made me very sad.

For if he was my uncle,
Then that also made him brother
To the widow's grown-up daughter
Who, of course, was my step-mother.

Father's wife then had a son,
Who kept them on the run.
And he became my grandson,
For he was my daughter's son.

My wife is now my mother's mother
And it makes me blue.
Because, although she is my wife,
She is my grandma too.

If my wife is my grandmother,
Then I am her grandchild.
And every time I think of it,
It simply drives me wild.

For now I have become
The strangest case you ever saw.
As the husband of my grandmother,
I am my own grandpa.

~very dizzy poem

An Introduction To Tcp/Ip

TCP/IP , or Transmission Control protocol/Internet Protocol, is literally the backbone of internet and network communication. The concepts of TCP/IP are difficult to grasp without previous experience, so don’t be dismayed if it doesn’t click instantly. To better help you out, we’ll start from the very beginning- with a definition of just what a network is.
A network is simply a collection of computers or similar devices that can communicate over a transmission medium. Don’t worry- that is just a fancy phrase that usually refers to Ethernet cable and other connective wire. You can see a basic network in the diagram below- odds are you’ve already seen something similar.

Simple enough, isn’t it? Just three computers linked together for communication. Sadly, it is a little more complex than that. To actually send any data from one computer to another we need to make use of a network protocol. A network protocol is a set of common rules that defines how data should be sent. These protocols ensure that a message sent from one computer will reach the next, and that it is interpreted correctly. These many different protocols make up TCP/IP, which is referred to as a protocol suite.

Back when TCP/IP wasn’t around, there were many different proprietary protocols. Since many different companies developed different protocols, many networks just weren’t compatible. Without a common suite like TCP/IP, the internet would not be possible.

TCP/IP was developed way back in the 1960’s by the United States Department of Defense. Its original designers had a problem- networks at the time were very small and incompatible. Proprietary protocols were in wide use, contributing to the compatibility problem.

In the early days, it was believed that relying on networks could be a disastrous idea. If a particular network node were to be destroyed for any reason, it would likely bring the entire network down. Since a missile or bomb could literally make any point on a network a target, a decentralized system was needed. The goal was to create a network that didn’t depend on other parts of the network to operate- one of the key features of TCP/IP. Review the diagram below for a visual representation of what happens if a computer fails on a centralized network. As you can see, both right and left computers have lost connection to the central computer, since the middle computer is down.

To actually provide a decentralized network, two important features of TCP/IP are used. Instead of one computer having authority over others, computers generally operate as equals. Dynamic routing is another feature that ensures decentralization. If computers are connected through multiple paths, computers will check for alternative routes if one seems to be down. In the above image, we could achieve dynamic routing by connecting both left and right computers to the first centralized computer- this enables us to completely bypass the downed middle computer.

This ambitious project was initially named ARPANET after the Defense Department’s Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA). A few years later, research institutions wanted in on the protocol system too. This is the start of what became the foundations of the internet.

Soon after, another networking concept arise- the Local Area Network, or LAN. These networks were the solution for offices and institutions to share resources with ease. The first LAN connections were crippled from today’s standards- they lacked internet access. The advent of the gateway enabled protocols to be translated for LAN connections to access the internet- and the popularity of TCP/IP exploded from there.

  • How? For every 1000 searches that users make on ecocho.com, two trees will be grown to offset carbon pollution emissions

  • Switching to ecocho.com doesn't alter or slow your search. Search results are displayed via technology you already know and trust - Yahoo!

  • ecocho.com is the world's first known search engine that enables users to offset their own carbon emissions for free

  • ecocho.com is an international initiative to reduce global warming. The service is multi-lingual and is being rolled out globally.

Corn Can Help Protect Eyesight

Corn, or maize, originates from Mesoamerica and was an important aspect of their civilization.

The Native Americans utilized the health benefits of corn by serving it with the ash of limestone. They had observed that people who ingesting corn in this manner were healthier. The limestone ash helps liberate the niacin in corn that is otherwise not absorbed efficiently by the body. Today, the United States is the largest producer of corn, with China, Brazil, and Mexico other large producers.

Health Benefits of Corn

  • Nutrients
Corn is very good source of vitamin B1 (thiamine). It’s a good source of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), vitamins C and E, folic acid, dietary fiber, essential fatty acids, and the minerals magnesium and phosphorus.

  • Glycemic Index (GI)
In a study to determine an estimation of the GI of various foods, it was concluded that sweet corn has a medium GI of 60.

  • Eyesight
The Age-Related Eye Disease Study suggests antioxidants may delay the advance of age-related macular degeneration. Yellow corn is rich in the carotenoid lutein, a phytochemical with antioxidant properties that can lower the risk of age related vision loss. Age related vision loss is caused by gradual oxidative damage of the retina, and lutein may serve as an antioxidant as well as a filter to protect the retina from the oxidative effect of blue light. Diets rich in lutein and zeaxanthin are also associated with a decreased prevalence of nuclear cataract.
While lutein and zeaxanthin content in yellow corn is not nearly as high as that in green leafy vegetables such as spinach (approximately 1/10th), yellow corn and corn products are one of the most popular foods in the Americas and other parts of the world. The less processed the product is, the more lutein rich it will be.

  • Alzheimer’s Disease
A study has shown that moderately severe Alzheimer’s patients had much lower plasma levels of lutein and beta-carotene, compared to mild Alzheimer’s patients. These findings suggest increasing intake of lutein and beta-carotene rich foods to slow the rate of cognitive decline.

  • Cancer
Corn has a high beta – cryptoxanthin content, a carotenoid with antioxidant properties. An observational study in Singapore has shown that high levels of dietary beta-cryptoxanthin were associated with reduced risk of lung cancer.

Terminator : Sarah Connor Chronicles

Terminator : Sarah Connor Chronicles series will be air on 8tv. It's trailer on that station seems interesting and i can't wait to watch Terminator : Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is an American science fiction television series produced by Warner Bros. Television and C2-Pictures, spinning off from the Terminator series of films. It revolves around the lives of the fictional characters Sarah and John Connor, following the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Plot

Back story

At the end of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Sarah, John, and the Terminator successfully destroy the T-1000 and the arm and computer chip from the first Terminator. The Terminator, at its own request, is then destroyed in order to eliminate any future technology that could be used to create Skynet. Sarah and John, now wanted fugitives, must also face the reality that other enemies from the future could be after them. However, they were only able to delay "Judgment Day" from 1997 to 2011.

Summary

Prompted by the return of Terminators into their lives, Sarah and John decide to stop running, and focus on stopping the creation of Skynet. They are aided by Cameron, a Terminator who poses as a female student at John's school, and whose mission is to protect John. Meanwhile, FBI Agent James Ellison pursues Sarah and John with the belief that Sarah is deranged.

An advance script review by TV Squad revealed that time travel would play a major role in the series premiere, including a temporal leap for the main characters from 1998 to 2006.The pilot episode as broadcast begins in August and September 1999 with a jump to September 2007. Three video clips from the series premiere published on the IGN website included Cromartie, the enemy Terminator, using Sarah's voice over the phone to find John, Sarah and John fighting over their current situation, and Cromartie looking for John, Sarah, and Cameron at the Dyson residence.

Summary from imdb.com
From the creators of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), this series is set after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991). Windows 7 themes for Windows XP

Sure, we don't actually have any real idea what Windows 7 will look like. But if you believe the screenshots floating around the web, the next version of Windows will look an awful lot like Vista. With a few new effects. And so when the folks at DeviantART decided to put together a few Windows 7 themes for Windows XP, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the themes look and feel a lot like Windows Vista.

That said, they're much prettier than the default themes available for Windows XP. Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't make it easy to install third party themes for Windows XP. Officially you're pretty much stuck with Windows XP, Windows Classic, and a Microsoft Zune theme. So the first thing you need to do to install a third party theme is to install a program called UxTheme Patcher.

If you're running Windows XP SP2 or earlier, you can download a Windows 7 theme and UxTheme Patcher in one fell swoop at MegaLeecher. Just unzip the file and click the multi-patcher file in the UX Theme Patcher Folder and then click the Windows 7 M1 VS.msstyles file in the Windows 7 M1 VS subfolder in the Themes folder.

But the included UxTheme Patcher isn't compatible with Windows XP SP3. So if you have SP3 installed, you'll need to download and install a patcher from another location. Once you've done that and rebooted your system, you should be able to install third party themes like the Windows 7 theme. Just don't expect it to look like much other than a Windows Vista theme.

The Biography Of The Prophet

Muhammad, son of Abdullah, son of Abdul Muttalib, of the tribe of Quraysh, was born in Makkah fifty-three years before the Hijrah. His father died before he was born, and he was protected first by his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, and after his grandfather’s death, by his uncle Abu Talib.

As a young boy he traveled with his uncle in the merchants’ caravan to Syria, and some years afterwards made the same journey in the service of a wealthy widow named Khadijah. So faithfully did he transact the widow’s business, and so excellent was the report of his behavior, which she received from her old servant who had accompanied him, that she soon afterwards married her young agent; and the marriage proved a very happy one, though she was fifteen years older than he was. Throughout the twenty-six years of their life together he remained devoted to her; and after her death, when he took other wives he always mentioned her with the greatest love and reverence. This marriage gave him rank among the notables of Makkah, while his conduct earned for him the surname Al-Amin, the “trustworthy.”

Discover Origami

Origami is a Japanese word which comes from the words ori (to fold)
and kami or gami (paper). It is in Japan that the art first originated,
some 1400 years ago.In its purest form, origami can be defined as
the art of manipulating a paper square without being cut, pasted,
decorated or mutilated in any way; it may only be folded.
This restrictive rule makes origami the most refined of all paper arts,
but therein lies its beauty and appeal. In Japan, it is divided into
two categories - the making of no shi, decorations attached to gifts,
and the making of plant, animal and human figures. Since the last
world war, Origami has become incredibly popular in the West.

Project: Butterfly

You will need a square piece of paper for this traditional Origami design.

Step 1: Make horizontal and vertical mountain creases.

Step 2: Make diagonal valley folds.

Step 3: With DC on the table and AB up in the air, place your fingers
behind E and F and pull them up and inward...

Step 4: ...like this, so that they lie together in the middle of edge DC...

Step 5: ...like this. Note how A lies on D and B on C.

Step 6: Turn the triangle upside down and fold the bottom
corner up to the top edge.

Step 7: Fold in the bottom corners as shown.

Step 8: Unfold the corners.

Step 9: Fold the bottom corners in again, but this time crease
only the inner layers. Much of the crease is hidden inside the outer layer.
Look at step 10.

Step 10: Pull down the top layer triangles.

Step 11: Make a central mountain crease, then the two valley
creases in the shape of a V, on one either side of the mountain.
This pinches the center of the butterfly to create a raised body
and separates the lower wings.

Step 12: The complete butterfly!
